Eligibility

We welcome all organizations that meet the eligibility requirements to participate in Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work in Healthcare program.  To be eligible for consideration, organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity
  • Be a publicly or privately held business
  • Have a facility in the United States
  • Have a minimum of 25 employees in the United States
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year
  • Must be either a healthcare provider, healthcare insurer or healthcare supplier
  • A health system or parent company of a group of providers may not enter separately alongside any or all subsidiaries, facilities or entities operated by the health system or parent company. Participants are required to register either their entire corporation/health system OR as individual, separate subsidiaries, facilities or entities. 

    For example: ABC Healthcare Management is a health system/parent company consisting of a main corporate office and five hospital facilities. Their group may participate in the survey program in one of two ways:

    1)    As ABC Healthcare Management, surveying employees from the main office and all five facilities within the corporation; or
    2)    As one or more of the five hospital facilities separately.

    The main, corporate office of ABC Healthcare Management may not participate as a stand-alone employer. Please contact Best Companies Group [at ] if you need any assistance in determining your organization’s specific participant eligibility.

Best Companies Group will accept registrations from organizations in these three categories:

1)  Healthcare Providers.  This category is for any organization, for profit or not-for-profit, that provides any level of healthcare. This category includes, but is not limited to: Health Systems, Hospitals, Physician Groups, Military Hospitals, and Teaching Hospitals. This category does not apply to staffing firms, such as those providing temporary nurses, physicians or other caregivers.

2) Healthcare Insurers.  This category is for any organization, for profit or not-for-profit, that is responsible for paying healthcare expenses on behalf of someone else. This category includes, but is not limited to, Health Insurance Companies and Managed Care Organizations.  This category does not include employers who are self insured, or paying their own healthcare expenses. Organizations must have at least 50% of their revenue or business coming from products or services created for/provided to the Healthcare industry.

3) Healthcare Suppliers.  This category is for any organization, for profit or not-for-profit, that supports the healthcare industry with its products or services.  This category includes, but is not limited to, Medical Supply Manufacturers & Suppliers, Medical Schools, Healthcare Consultants, Healthcare Associations, Pharmaceutical Companies and other Healthcare Vendors. This also includes firms delivering administrative support or staffing services such as locum tenens and temporary staffing. Organizations must have at least 50% of their revenue or business coming from products or services created for/provided to the Healthcare industry.

The Best Places to Work in Healthcare results and rankings will be simultaneously published by Modern Healthcare and posted on this website.
